We know that for many guests, a trip away isn't complete without their dog. The countryside around Himley is perfect walking territory — open parkland, canal towpaths and woodland trails, all within minutes of the hotel.
Himley Park
The most convenient option. Dogs are welcome throughout the park grounds on a lead, with plenty of open space for a good run. The lakeside path is flat and easy-going, and the woodland areas provide welcome shade in summer. Water bowls appear at various points during warmer months.
Baggeridge Country Park
A ten-minute drive from the hotel, Baggeridge is a favourite with local dog walkers. The waymarked trails loop through meadows and mixed woodland, and there are open areas where dogs can run safely off-lead. Parking is free.
Canal Towpaths
The Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal offers flat, scenic walks in both directions from Himley. Dogs love the towpath — it's shaded, traffic-free and there are plenty of interesting smells. Head south towards Kinver for a longer outing, or north to Wombourne for a shorter loop with a pub stop.
A tired dog at the end of the day is a happy dog — and around Himley, there's no shortage of ground to cover.
Kinver Edge
For a more adventurous walk, Kinver Edge is a National Trust heathland with panoramic views. Dogs are welcome on leads, and the terrain — sandy paths through heather and birch woodland — is a pleasant change from the flat canal routes.
